Jack The Dog
Jack was black and tan Manchester Fox Terrier. He was Edith’s favorite. He was the first dog to live inside the house. He slept in Ted Jr's bed. Jack was the only animal Edith would allow in her drawing room.
When Jack died in April 1903 Edith buried him behind the White House in a casket with a glass top. However, when the family left the White House, she exhumed Jack and moved him to “Faithful Friends” the Roosevelt Pet cemetery at Sagamore Hill.
