Things Aren't Always What They Seem

This famous photograph of General Grant was reportedly taken at City Point, Virginia in 1864.  It depicts Grant sitting on his horse in front of his troops. It became one of the classic textbook photos of the Civil War.

In truth this photo is a composite of three photos depicting an event that never took place.  The photographer or manipulator took the head of Grant leaning against a tree and put it on the body of General McCook sitting on his horse.  After that was done they used the background of Confederate Prisoners and called them Federal Troops and snuck Grant in the foreground.

Bingo, history is made.  The final product becomes Grant on horseback in front of his troops at City Point, Virginia.

Here's a photograph of Lincoln, but its only part Lincoln.  They put the head of Lincoln on the body of John C. Calhoun.
